Considering continued uncertainty of COVID-19 outbreak and global travel restrictions, 49th COCOTECH Conference & Exhibition originally scheduled from 7-11 September 2020 is postponed to a later date next year. The host country, Malaysia and ICC Secretariat will announce a new date and let all know well in advance.
49th International COCOTECH Conference and Exhibition is the largest technical conference dedicated solely on coconut development. The event is scheduled to be held at Kuala Lumpur in 2021. It is jointly organized by International Coconut Community (ICC) and Government of Malaysia. The theme for the conference is “Promoting Smart Farming and Eco-Friendly Innovative Technologies for Sustainable Coconut Development”. The conference will highlight new technological developments on coconut production particularly varietal improvement, coconut-based farming systems, integrated pest and disease management, post-harvest processing, and technology updates in the manufacture of emerging coconut products for the domestic and export market, cost effective technologies on integrated coconut processing, and marketing strategies. Experts from the research and development, industry and the private sector will be sharing their knowledge and experience in this conference. Minimum 500 participants across the globe is expected in this conference.
Established in 1969, the ICC is an independent intergovernmental organization which consists of 20 member countries and accounts for 85-90% of the world production of coconut. The ICC member countries are: the Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji, Guyana, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Kiribati, Malaysia, Marshall Islands, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Samoa, Salomon Islands, Jamaica, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tonga, Timor Leste, Vanuatu and Vietnam.
